| Peterhof, outside St. Petersburg, Russia -- May, 2011 |
In mid-May, Rasmus and I went on a short trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg. We took the bus to Moscow, which was pretty awful, but we were able to take a sleeper train (you get a bed instead of a seat) to St. Petersburg, which was, by the way, one of the best train rides I've had. We had a couple of days in St. Petersburg and stayed the night at a small bed and breakfast just stone's throw away from the Winter Palace. On our second day, we visited the palace for a few hours, and then headed out to Peterhof.
On our way to the Peterhof Palace and gardens (and fountains!), we came across this beauty -- Peter and Paul Cathedral. Russia definitely had no shortage of awesome, beautiful churches (seriously, domes everywhere!), but this was probably one of my favorites. I also found
this very stunning picture of it on Flickr.
